Overview
The PETROCO Swellable Packer is a high-performance zonal-isolation system that uses advanced self-healing elastomers. When exposed to wellbore fluids such as hydrocarbons, water, or gas, the elastomer gradually swells and expands to seal the annulus. This provides a simple, safe, and reliable barrier without the need for mechanical setting tools.
Applications
• Open-hole or cased-hole zonal isolation
• Production-tubing packer backup and liner-hanger backup
• Cement-assurance operations
• Stimulation placement and selective acidizing
• Intelligent well and smart-completion systems
• Water-shutoff, gas-shutoff, and sand-control support
• Multi-zone completions, compartmentalization, and open-hole straddle designs
• Integrity repair and inflow control in damaged or irregular wellbores
Features & Benefits
• Self-healing elastomer: Automatically swells upon exposure to target wellbore fluids to create a long-lasting, robust seal.
• High-pressure performance: Bonded-to-pipe design allows rotation and reciprocation during run-in while supporting differential pressures up to 15,000 psi.
• Customizable sizing: Element length and OD can be tailored to match specific well designs and completion requirements.
• Slip-On option: A quick-install version ideal for wells where a bonded swellable packer is not practical; offers high flexibility and reliable sealing even in challenging conditions.
• No special tools required: Can be installed easily by rig personnel without specialized running equipment or expert crews.
• Ideal for irregular geometry: Provides an effective isolation solution in wells with irregular borehole shapes and can replace or complement cementing and perforation in certain applications.
• Long-term integrity: Maintains annular sealing over extended periods, even under harsh downhole environments
